Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Girona and Las Palmas go head to head at Estadio Municipal de Montilivi in the opening match of Sunday’s program. The Catalans aim to build on back-to-back wins over Getafe and Sevilla and they are seen as hot favourites to win this match. Even though the likes of Alexander Callens, Borja Garcia, Joel Roca Casals, Ricard Artero, and Toni Villa remain in the recovery room, home win should be considered as Girona have been impressive in front of goal of late.
La Union Deportiva, on the other hand, have netted only one goal in total this season and given their difficulties on the road, we predict that the hosts are going to pick up all three points from Sunday’s encounter. You should know that Las Palmas will be without Daley Sinkgraven, Marvin Park, Alberto Moleiro, Fabio Gonzalez, and Machin Perez against Girona.
Highlighted Player (Christian Stuani):
Cristhian Stuani is considered one of the best Uruguay attackers. Stuani was born on 12 October, 1986 and he began his senior career at Danubio. He impressed with the Uruguayan outfit, scoring 23 goals in 36 appearances for the club and, as a result, he became a target for a number of top European clubs.
In 2008 he signed a contract with Reggina, but he failed to impress in 17 appearances for the Italian team. After spending the 2012/2013 season on loan at Espanyol, Christian Stuani signed a permanent deal with the Catalan side in 2013. Stuani scored 12 goals in 37 league appearances for Espanyol in the 2014/2015 Primera Division campaign, but at the end of the season he moved to Middlesbrough for a reported €3 million fee.
The 186-cm-tall striker made his Uruguay debut on 14 November, 2012 in a friendly win over Poland. Stuani also represented la Celeste at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife.
Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
