Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Girona will try to recover from a 1-0 loss to Mallorca when they welcome Osasuna to their Estadio Municipal de Montilivi in the closing match of Saturday’s program. The Catalans are a real force to be reckoned with at home and you should know that they are eyeing their 11th home win of the process. Experienced forward Portu is pushing for a recall to the starting XI, while all Yangel Herrera, David Lopez, Ricard Artero, Joel Roca Casals, and Toni Villa continue to miss out through injuries.
Los Rojillos, on the other hand, have been in a fine form of late, with the team winning three of their last four league matches, but given Girona’s excellent home record, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi showdown. To make things even more difficult for the away side, both Barja and David Garcia limped off with injuries in a hard-fought 1-0 win over Deportivo Alaves.
Highlighted Player (David Garcia):
David Garcia is a Spanish player who started his youth career at Maspalomas. After making 65 appearances for Vecindario in lower leagues, he joined Las Palmas in 2003. David Garcia is a centre back, but he is capable of playing as a right back if needed. He was born on 25 February, 1982 and it is more than obvious that he dedicated his football career to Las Palmas.
Garcia made his professional debut in September, 2013 in a 2-1 victory at Elche. However, he made no more than seven league appearances for Las Palmas in the 2003/2004 season. David Garcia, though, quickly established himself as a first-team regular and it has to be noted that he played 394 league games for los Amarillos until the 2016/2017 season.
He made 37 appearances for Las Palmas in the 2014/2015 Segunda Division campaign, helping the team secure promotion to the Spanish top flight, but he played no more than 19 games for the club in the 2015/2016 Primera Division campaign. His contract with Las Palmas expires on 30 June, 2017.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
