Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
After failing to win the previous four league fixtures, Las Palmas will look to get back on course in La Liga 2 when they take on Girona on Matchday 31. La Union Deportiva do not seem to be at their sharpest, but Saturday’s clash could be the turning point for the home side. Enzo Loiodice, who suffered an injury at the weekend, has joined Jesus Crespo in the recovery room, while Albania international Armando Sadiku is pushing for a start.
The Catalan side, on the other hand, aim to stay in top six. Girona are not regarded as good travelers, and that is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on draw. Experienced attacker Stuani is banned for the match, while all Juanpe, Sarmiento, and Urena are likely to miss the game with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Raul Fernandez):
Born in Bilbao, Spain on March 13, 1988 Raul Fernandez is a 196-cm-tall goalkeeper who plays for La Liga side Levante. Fernandez played for the youth team of his home-town club Athletic Bilbao from 1998 to 2006 and he began his senior career at fellow Basque outfit Basconia. After making 29 appearances for the club in the 2006/2007 season Raul Fernandez returned to Athletic Bilbao in 2007 and it has to be noted that he played 19 games for the reserve team.
After spending the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons on loan at Conquense and Granada respectively the Spanish shoot-stopper started playing for Athletic Bilbao at senior level, but he made only five appearances for the Lions in La Liga.
In 2013 Raul Fernandez was loaned to Numancia and after ending his loan spell with los Rojillos he moved to Raving Santander. Nowadays the Basque footballer is a part of La Liga team Levante and you should know that he managed to keep 17 clean sheets in 33 appearances for los Levantinos in the 2016/2017 Segunda Division campaign.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
