Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
After holding Espanyol to a 1-1 draw in Barcelona, Real Oviedo will be aiming to return to winning ways in La Liga 2 when they welcome Leganes at their Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere on Matchday 29. Los Azules aim to move closer to the playoffs berth, and we are positive that they will go for a win in Sunday’s showdown. Nathuel Leive, who scored the equalizer in the draw with los Periquitos, is widely expected to return to the starting XI.
The capital club, on the other hand, aim to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive. Leganes failed to turn their dominance in ball possession into goalless in a draw with Castellon, and given their anything but brilliant away record, share of spoils is on the cards at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere. Since de la Fuente failed to impress in the goalless draw with Castellon, Borja Baston could be recalled to the starting line-up.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Arribas ):
Born in Madrid, Spain on May 1, 1989, Alejandro Arribas is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Oviedo in La Liga 2. Arribas is a very experienced defender as he played for Primera Division sides Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla in the past.
He is a product of Rayo Majadahonda football school, but he did not see any game action with the club at senior level. Alejandro Arribas played for Mexican club UNAM before signing a three-year deal with Real Oviedo in the summer of 2019.
He made his debut with los Azules in a 2-1 loss to Fuenlabrada on August 31, 2019. The towering defender has never received a call-up for the Spain national football team. His main position is centre-back, but he can be used as a right-back as well if needed. The right-footed footballer has a contract with Real Oviedo until June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success.
Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby.
The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
