Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Sunday’s football game at Stadio Ezio Scida pits together Crotone and Benevento, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table ahead of Matchday 18. Former Juventus striker Filippo is doing a great job with the Gli Stregoni, who sit in the tenth position in the standings ahead of the trip to Crotone. The Yellow-Reds aim to bounce back from a heavy 4-1 loss to Atalanta, and they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways in the Serie A.
The likes of Caldirola, Falque, and Letizia are all out of contention with injuries for the visitors. The Rossoblu, on the other hand, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Verona at the weekend, with the team extending their losing to three games. Crotone obviously miss their loyal fans, and seeing that Benevento are enjoying a season to remember, away win should be considered. Benali, Cigarini, and Marrone should miss out for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Alex Cordaz):
Alex Cordaz is an Italian goalkeeper who plays for Crotone, who returned to the Serie A at the end of the 2015/2016 season. Cordaz was born in Vittorio Veneto on 1 January 1983 and he started his youth career at Inter. He played one game for the Nerazzurri in the Serie A and in 2006 he joined Treviso.
After making 18 league appearances for the club from 2006 to 2009, he joined with Swiss side Lugano on a free transfer. The 188-cm-tall goalkeeper played 56 league games for Lugano and in 2011 he returned to Italy as he signed a contract with Cittadella. As expected, he established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper and he made no less than 80 league appearances for the club between 2011 and 2013.
Alex Cordaz currently plays for Crotone and it has to be noted that he made 42 appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 Serie B campaign.
Highlighted Team (Benevento):
FC Benevento secured promotion to the Serie A for the first time in their history at the end of the 2016/2017 campaign, but it has to be noted that they finished the regular season in 5th place in the standings. The Stregoni (Witches) did well to beat Perugia and Carpi in the promotion play-offs and, as a result, they are going to taste a top-flight football.
Benevento were founded in 1929 as Associazione Calcio Benevento and back then they played their home games at Meomartini, the venue which was built by Ciccio Minocchia. Nowadays, the Stregoni welcome their rivals at Stadio Giro Vigorito and the capacity of the stadium is 12.847. Benevento are well known for their yellow jerseys with red stripes, whilst they wear white shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels.
After Napoli, Salernitana and Avellino Benevento become the fourth club from Campania to compete in the Serie A. Matches between the aforementioned teams are well known as Campania derbies.
