Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Monday’s football game at Stadio Luigi Ferraris pits together Sampdoria and Inter, the two sides with completely different ambitions in the 2022/2023 season. La Samp are stuck at the bottom with only ten points in their pocket, but they were more than unfortunate not to beat Monza on the road. Dejan Stankovic’s men are desperate to pick up all three points from this match, but they will have a mountain to climb against Inter. All Conti, Luca, Pussetto, Sabiri, and Trimboli have been struggling with injuries of late.
The Nerazzurri, on the other hand, are high on spirits following the triumph in Derby della Madonnina. Since Simone Inzaghi’s men have been showing signs of improvement of late, we predict that they are going to take advantage of Sampdoria’s shaky defence. Joaquin Correa and Dalbert should be the only absentees in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Hakan Calhanoglu):
Hakan Calhanoglu is another one in the long line of Turkish footballers who were born in Germany, so it is hardly surprising he came to prominence thanks to his performances in Bundesliga. The attacking midfielder with great vision and very good goalscoring record started his professional career at Karlsruher, scoring impressive 17 goals in 50 league outings to earn a move to Bundesliga side Hamburg.
The spell at Imtech Arena was merely a stepping stone for bigger things as 11 goals in his debut top flight campaign persuaded Bayer Leverkusen to splash nearly €15 million on his services. That proved a very good investment as Calhanoglu continued the rich vein of form, and it is now a matter of time before he joins one of European powerhouses.
The midfield maestro had a bright start to his career in the Turkey national team, scoring 5 goals in first 16 caps, and chances are he will become a leader for Milli Takim in the foreseeable future.
Highlighted Team (Sampdoria):
Sampdoria is an Italian football club from Genoa which is currently playing in the highest Italian football division: the Serie A. The club colours of Sampdoria are blue and white and is known under the nickname Blucerchiati. Sampdoria host it’s home games in the Stadio Luigi Ferraris which is located in Genua. Interesting detail is that their biggest city rival Genoa is playing their home games in Stadio Luigi Ferraris as well.
In the past Sampdoria was playing in the Serie B and Serie A on and off. After the big successes in the end of the eighties the club became a stable team in the Serie A. Sampdoria managed to win the Scudetto once in 1991, the Coppa Italia 4 times in 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1994 and the Europe Cup II in 1990.
There are a lot of important players in football history that played for Sampdoria such as: Seedorf, Gullit, Mancini, Poli, Vieri, Zenga, Falcone, Karembeu, Vialli, Klinsmann and Veron.
