Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Koln and Wolfsburg go head to head at RheinEnergieStadion in what is expected to be a close Bundesliga encounter. The Billy Goats were on the verge of holding Borussia Dortmund to a draw in their opener, but Donyell Malen’s late goal eventually helped the vice-champions pick up all three points from the match. With no fresh injury worries to report, Steffen Baumgart is unlikely to make changes to the team that fought well against Borussia.
The Wolves, meanwhile, faced no difficulties in a 2-0 win over newcomers Heidenheim, but the share of spoils is on the cards this time out as Koln are tough to beat at home. All Maximilian Arnold, Lukas Nmecha, Kilian Fischer, and Felix Lange are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the visiting team. Koln defenders should have Denmark forward Jonas Wind at bay as the 24-year-old scored a brace in the season opener.
Highlighted Player (Jonas Hector):
Jonas Hector is a product of Koln’s youth school. The left back was born on 27 May, 1990 in Saarbrucken and he began his youth career at SV Auersmacher. In 2010 he joined FC Koln and he made 63 league appearances for the reserve team between 2010 and 2013. Ever since he made his debut for the senior team on 27 August, 2012 he has been playing regularly for the Billy Goats and he certainly helped the team return to Bundesliga at the end of the 2013/2014 campaign.
Jonas Hector made his Germany debut on 14 November, 2014 in a 4-0 win over Gibraltar. The left-footed defender scored his first goal for the German national team on 29 March, 2016 in a 4-1 victory over Italy in Munich.
Hector represented his homeland at the 2016 European Championship finals in France and he scored the winner from the penalty spot in the quarter-final against Italy. Hector is capable of playing as a midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Wolfsburg):
Wolfsburg are a German football club founded in the aftermath of the World War II (1945). Die Wolfe (The Wolves) wear green and white shirts and they play their home games at Volkswagen Arena. The capacity of the stadium is 30,000 and it was opened on 13 December, 2002.
It is well known that German car manufacturer Volkswagen are the club’s main sponsors. Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga trophy in 2009 and the likes of Edin Dzeko, Grafite and Zvjezdan Misimovic were part of the club’s golden generation.
You should bear in mind that Grafite and Dzeko scored 54 goals between each other in the 2008/2009 Bundesliga campaign and that the team clinched the trophy thanks to a 5-1 win over Werder Bremen on 23 May, 2009. Die Wolfe won the German Cup trophy in 2015, with the team beating star-studded Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the title game. Wolfsburg are a team that has no bitter rivals in German football.
