Our prediction for this Championship match:
Birmingham City will look to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Millwall when they take on Blackpool in the Championship round 44. The Blues did well to secure the Championship survival, meaning that they have little to play for in the season finale. John Ruddy limped off with injury in the midweek triumph, with fellow goalkeeper Neil Etheridge likely to step up. All Campbell, Deeney, Gardner, Hall, and Sanderson remain in the recovery room.
The Seasiders, on the other hand, suffered a heart-breaking 2-0 loss to WBA on Tuesday evening, with the team remaining in the relegation zone. The relegation-threatened visitors face a must-win situation against Birmingham City, and seeing that they want this win more than Birmingham City, away triumph should be considered. Midfielder Sonny Carey is pushing for a start, while all Stewart, Trybull, Madine, Lavery, Husband, Goode, Ekpiteta, Bridcutt, Beesley, and Apter have been struggling with injuries of late.
Highlighted Player (Troy Deeney):
Troy Deeney started his professional career in 2006 at Walsall. The prolific attacker scored 27 goals in 123 appearances for the club and in 2010 he went on to sign a contract with Watford. He joined the Hornets for a fee of £500,000 and it has to be noted that he scored only two goals for the team in the 2010/2011 Championship campaign.
However, as time went by he was raising his form and in the 2014/2015 the English attacker scored 21 goals for Watford and helped the team secure promotion to the Premier League. Troy Deeney was playing an important role in Quique Sanchez Flores’ team on their return to the English top flight and he bagged no fewer than 13 goals in the 2015/2016 season.
Deeney was born in Birmingham, West Midlands, on 29 June, 1988 and he has two children, Myles, a son, and a daughter Amelia. His brother Ellis is a football player as well, but he plays as a midfielder. The striker has also spent some time in prison, but has since seriously improved his behaviour.
Highlighted Team (Blackpool):
Blackpool FC are a professional English club based in Blackpool, Lancashire. Considering that Blackpool is a seaside town, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Seasiders. Founded back in 1887, the club play their home matches at Bloomfield Road, which can hold up to 17,338 spectators. In the 2009/2010 season Blackpool secured promotion to the Premier League, but they were not competitive at this level, suffering relegation to the Championship the following season.
The club’s biggest success, though, came in 1953 when they defeated Bolton Wanderers 4-3 in the FA Cup final. Blackpool are well known for their orange shirts, but the dominant colour of their away kit is white. Preston are considered the club’s biggest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the West Lancashire derby.
Charlie Adam, who played for Liverpool and has 26 caps for Scotland national team, is regarded as one of the club’s most notable players.
