Our prediction for this Championship match:
Blackpool and Fulham go head to head at Bloomfield Road in a highly-anticipated Championship game. The Seasiders made a slow start to the season, with the team still eyeing their first win of the process. Blackpool do not seem to be competitive at this level, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as underdogs in Saturday’s clash. Midfielder Callum Connolly, who was sent off in a 2-1 loss to Millwall before the international break, is banned for the match, while Gary Madine, Matty Virtue, and Demetri Mitchell remain in the recovery room.
The Cottagers, on the other hand, are on a quest to return to the English top flight. Fulham made a flying start to the season, and given their four-game winning run in the Championship, away win should be considered. Key attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic should be fit for the match despite picking up a knock in Serbia’s 4-1 win over Luxembourg.
Highlighted Player (Chris Maxwell):
Chris Maxwell is a Welsh goalkeeper who was born in St Asaph on July 30, 1990. Maxwell began his youth career at Penrhyn Bay (1998-2000) and in 2000 he moved to Wrexham. The 188-cm-tall shoot-stopper made his first-team debut for Wrexham at the age of 18 and he played 76 league games for the club from 2008 to 2012.
During the 2008/2009 season he spent six months on loan at Welsh club Connah’s Quay Nomads and in 2012 he joined Fleetwood Town. Chris Maxwell made 110 appearances in the league for the Trawlermen and on May 16, 2016 he signed a three-year deal with Championship side Preston North End. You should know that he managed to keep clean sheets in 38 appearances for the Lilywhites in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign.
Due to his dual citizenship, Maxwell is capable of representing both Wales and Scotland at senior level, but he played for the Dragons at youth level, being capped for the U21 team 16 times.
Highlighted Team (Fulham):
Fulham are a club from London that play in the Premier League. The capital club dropped to the English second tier at the end of the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign after failing to impress in the elite competition, but managed to return in season 2018/2019.
Fulham were founded in 1879 and they play their home matches at Craven Cottage. Fulham are the oldest-established club from the English capital to have played in the top flight.
Fulham finished the 2008/2009 Premier League campaign in seventh place in the standings and that is considered the team’s biggest success, speaking of their participation in the Premier League.
The Cottagers played in the Europa League twice and they did well to reach the FA Cup final in 1975, but they were beaten by their local rivals West Ham United in the title game (0-2). Chelsea are regarded as Fulham’s bitter rivals as well and the two teams take on each other in the North London derby.
