Our prediction for this Championship match:
Cardiff City and Sheffield United face each other at Cardiff City Stadium in a highly-anticipated Championship game. The Bluebirds aim to build on a 2-1 win over Luton Town, but the Blades will pose a much bigger threat for the hosts than their previous rivals. Head coach Steve Morison has no fresh injury worries, and he is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Hatters at the weekend.
The Blades, on the other hand, made a slow start to the season, but their displays in late November are giving fans a reason for optimism. Sheffield United aim to build on back-to-back wins over Reading and Bristol City, and seeing that they are eager to keep their playoffs hopes alive, away win should be considered. All Rhian Brewster, John Fleck, Robin Olsen, and Jack O’Connell are all out of contention with injuries, while Oliver McBurnie has been tested positive for coronavirus.
Highlighted Player (Sol Bamba):
Souleymane “Sol” Bamba is an Ivory Coast international who plays for Leeds United in the Championship. The defender spent five years in PSG youth school (1999-2004) and he made no more than one league appearance for the first team.
In July 2006 he signed for Scottish team Dunfermline and after spending two years at East End Park, he moved to fellow Scottish Premier League club Hibernian in 2008. Sol Bamba played as a centre back for the Hibs and he was producing brilliant performances with the Easter Road outfit.
The Ivory Coast defender used to play for the likes of Leicester City, Trabzonspor and Palermo in the past as well and on 24 June, 2015 he signed a permanent deal with Leeds United. Bamba made his Ivory Coast debut in 2008 in a friendly game against Israel. Over the years he has established himself as Ivory Coast first-team regular, but he was surprisingly omitted from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast squad. Bamba is a 190-cm-tall centre back and he is well known for his aerial skills and brilliant tackles.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield United):
Sheffield United are a professional football club that compete in the Championship. The Blades finished the 2016/2017 League One campaign in top position in the standings, with the team collecting exactly 100 points in the process. Sheffield United last competed in the Premier League in the 2006/2007 season and they were more than unfortunate not to secure the top flight survival.
The Blades finished the season in 18th place in the process and it has to be noted that they were level on points with Wigan Athletic, who managed to avoid the relegation to the English second tier. Sheffield United welcome their rivals at Bramal Lane, the stadium which was opened on April 30, 1855. The current capacity of the venue is 32.702.
The club have numerous rivalries, but the most notable one is the rivalry with their city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday. The two teams face each other in the Steel City derby and it has to be noted that United share rivalry with the likes of Barnsley, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United as well.
