Campo de Futbol de Vallecas will host Wednesday’s Copa del Rey game between Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca. Los Vallecanos booked their place in the quarter-finals by beating the likes of Mirandes and Athletic Club, and they are seen as favourites to make it to the semis. Both Radamel Falcao and Fran Garcia are out of contention, while Sergio Guardiola should be recalled to the starting XI.
Los Bermellones, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-0 loss to Villarreal at the weekend. Considering that Mallorca often struggle on the travels, we are tempted to put our money on the capital club. January signing Sylla is likely to make his Mallorca debut in the Copa del Rey clash, but that should not help the underdogs advance to the semi-finals.

Radamel Falcao, nicknamed the “Colombian Tiger”, is considered one of the best players in the history of Colombian football. The 177-cm-tall attacker is well known for his brilliant finishing and his header technique gives him an advantage in aerial battles with opposition defenders.
Falcao was born in Santa Marta, Colombia on 10 February, 1986 and he started his senior career at Lanceros Boyaca. He played for Argentine giants River Plate between 2005 and 2009 and in 2009 he joined Porto. After scoring 41 goals in 51 league appearances for the Dragons, Falcao signed for Atletico Madrid on 18 August 2011 for a fee of €40 million.
The Colombian attacker helped los Rojiblancos win Europa League trophy in 2012, scoring 12 goals in the process. He played for Monaco in the 2013/2014 Ligue 1 campaign and in 2014 he signed a loan deal with Manchester United. He scored just 4 goals in 26 league appearances for the Red Devils and was later loaned to Chelsea before returning to Stade Louis II.

Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
Back in 1999 Mallorca made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, with the team suffering a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the title game. Four years later los Bermellones won Spanish Copa del Rey, which is considered the club’s biggest success.
