Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Olympique Marseille will be aiming to cement second place in the standings when they face relegation strugglers St Etienne on Matchday 22. OM proved their worth in 2-0 win over Angers and they face yet another easy task against les Verts. Forward Neal Maupay is pushing for a start after scoring as a substitute against les Scoistes, while both Ruben Blanco and Faris Moumbagna remain in the recovery room. Morocco international Amine Harit is a major doubt.
St Etienne, on the other hand, are sitting in the relegation zone with only 18 points on their account and given their poor away record in the 2024/2025 season, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. The good news for the away team is that defender Dylan Batubinsika is back from suspension, but forward Benjamin Old continues to miss out through injury. Anyhow, David faces Goliath at Stade Velodrome on Saturday afternoon.
Highlighted Player (Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg):

Born in Copenhagen, on the 5th of August, 1995, Hojbjerg has been playing football since the age of five. The Danish International spent his youth career playing for clubs BK Skjold, F.C. Copenhagen and Brondby IF. In 2012, he moved to Germany to sign his first professional contract with Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich.
After spending his first year playing for the Munich reserves, the midfielder made his maiden professional appearance the following season, in a Bundesliga game against FC Nurnberg on the 13th of April. Hojbjerg's next spell came at FC Augsburg, who signed him on a six-month loan from the Bavarians in January 2015. The same year, he scored his first-ever professional goal that came in a 2-1 away loss to Paderborn 07 on the 11th of April. The following season, he was loaned out again, this time to Schalke 04 for a whole season.
In a move that would mark the end of his stint in German Football, Hojbjerg joined Premier league club Southampton in 2016 on a transfer worth 13 million euros. He's currently on a five-year contract with the Saints. At the International level, the 24-year-old represented Denmark at every iteration of the youth level before making his senior debut on the 28th of May, 2014, in a friendly against Sweden.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):

Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century.
Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
