San Jose Earthquakes and New York Red Bulls go head to head at Earthquakes Stadium in what is expected to be an interesting MLS game. San Jose played no warm-up games ahead of the new MLS campaign, which could prove to be a big problem for the hosts in Sunday’s clash. New signing Jamiro Monteiro is likely to make his San Jose debut against New York Red Bulls, while Cameroon international Jeremy Ebobisse is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts.
The Metros, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a pre-season loss (1-6) to Los Angeles FC, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. Defender Aaron Long misses the season opener with injury, while latest signings Luquinhas and Lewis Morgan are pushing for their NY Red Bull debuts.

Daniel Royer is an Austrian winger who was born in Schladming on May 22, 1990. After starting his youth career at local club Schladming, Royer moved to Sturm Graz in 2004. Five years later the 175-cm-tall footballer began his senior career at Pashing and after scoring 6 goals in 25 appearances for the club, he moved to Ried.
Daniel Royer played for the likes of Hannover, Koln, Austria Wien and Midtjylland as well before joining New York Red Bulls in 2016. In the 2017 MLS season the Austria international established himself as a first-team regular, scoring no less than 12 goals in the process.
Speaking of his international career, Royer made his Austria debut on June 3, 2011, replacing Martin Harnik in the EURO 2012 qualifier against Germany. Daniel Royer’s main position is left winger, but is used as a right winger as well. It has to be noted that the Austria international doesn’t have a preferred foot.

New York Red Bulls is the first club from New York City to join Major League Soccer. In 2006 the club was sold to Red Bull GmbH and, as a result, they are nicknamed the Red Bulls. New York welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena and the team’s home colors are white and red.
On the other hand, the Red Bulls wear dark blue shirts and yellow shorts on the road. In 2008 New York Red Bulls made it to the MLS Cup final, but they were not capable of matching Columbus Crew (1-3) in the Home Depot Center clash. A number of top-class footballers were part of the team in the past, but former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry is the synonym of the club.
Henry scored 51 goals in 122 league games for New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014 and it has to be noted that he scored his first MLS hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Montreal Impact on March 31, 2012. The likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Lothar Matthaus, Roberto Donadoni, Rafael Marquez, Juninho and Tim Cahill played for the club in the past as well.
