Our prediction for this MLS match:
San Jose Earthquakes will be desperate to halt a three-game losing streak when they host Portland Timbers at PayPal Park. The Quakes have struggled for consistency all season and defensive problems has played a major role in their recent league games. Their task won’t be made easier by the absence of Fernandez, Lopez, and Wilson Valdez, all sidelined through injury.
Portland, on the other hand, come into this clash full of confidence after a thrilling 4-2 win over LA Galaxy. Their attacking trio looked sharp, with Evander pulling the strings in midfield and Jonathan Rodríguez leading the line effectively. Although Diego Chara is ruled out for the Timbers, their offensive momentum remains intact. San Jose will be motivated to respond in front of their home fans, and they’ve shown glimpses of attacking intent even in defeat. Given Portland’s firepower and the hosts’ urgency to bounce back, this promises to be an open encounter.
