Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
After failing to win the previous three league fixtures, Belenenses will be looking to return to winning ways in the Primeira Liga when they take on Vitoria Guimaraes in the Primeira Liga round 18. O Belem have been struggling in front of goal of late, and seeing that Guimareas look solid at the back, a low-scoring affair is on the cards at Estadio Nacional do Jamor. Varela is injured for the hosts, while Kau is a major doubt.
The visitors, on the other hand, did well to hold star-studded Benfica to a goalless draw in their last league match. Considering that under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of Guimaraes’ last three league matches, we are unlikely to see goals galore at Estadio Nacional do Jamor. In the first half of the season Belenenses recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Vitoria Guimaraes. The likes of Jhonatan, Pepelu, and Varela are sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Goncalo Silva):
Born in Barreiro, Portugal, on June 4, 1991, Goncalo Silva is a defender who plays for Belenenses. After starting his youth career at Barreirense, Goncalo Silva moved to Lousada before the start of the 2010/2011 season.
After making 28 appearances in the league for the club, the Portuguese defender joined Atletico Club de Portugal in the 2011/2012 season. In 2012 Goncalo Silva signed a deal with Braga B, but after scoring two goals in 83 appearances for the club, he joined his current club Belenenses in 2015.
The Portuguese footballer made his Primeira Liga debut in on October 26, 2015, in a 1-0 win over Uniao Madeira. His primary position is a centre-back, but he is capable of producing fine displays as a right-back as well. Goncalo Silva has one cap for the Portugal U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the senior team. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Guimaraes):
Vitoria Guimaraes have always been in the shadow of famous Portuguese sides Porto, Benfica and Sporting, but over the years they have established themselves as a top-table side in the Primeira Liga. Os Vimaranenses did well to win Taca de Portugal in the 2012/2013 season, wi the team beating Benfica in the final of the domestic cup.
Vitoria Guimaraes finished the 2016/2017 Primeira Liga campaign in fourth place in the standings and, as a result, they booked their place in the Europa League qualifiers. The Portuguese side will face the likes of Salzburg, Konyaspor and Olympic Marseille in Group I and they are seen as underdogs in their group. Vitoria Guimaraes welcome their rivals at Estadio D. Alfonso Henriques and the venue can hold up to 30.000 spectators.
Os Vimaranenses play their home games in white shirts and white shorts, whilst they wear black when playing on the road. Their neighbours Braga are considered Guimaraes’ fiercest rivals and the two teams face each other in the derby of Minho Province.
