Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Arsenal and Nottingham Forest take on each other at Emirates Stadium in what will be their first Premier League meeting since 1999. Back then the Gunners defeated the Reds, and Mikel Arteta’s troops are seen as hot favourites to win Sunday’s clash as well. With no fresh injury worries to report, the Spanish tactician is unlikely to make changes to the team that shared the spoils with Southampton at the weekend.
Both Smith Rowe and Elneny are out of contention with injuries, while Ukraine left-back Zinchenko will be assessed ahead of the kick-off. The newcomers, on the other hand, did well to shock Liverpool at the City Ground, but given their poor away record (0-2-4), anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. All Toffolo, Richards, Niakhate, and Colback are sidelined with injuries, but Lewis O’Brien should be fit for the match.
Highlighted Player (Granit Xhaka):
Granit Xhaka is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most talented central midfielders at the moment and he is on the radar of quite a few high-profile sides. Just two seasons at FC Basel proved enough to attract interest from Borussia M’gladbach, who secured his signature in the summer of 2012.
The Switzerland international had a slow start to his career in Germany, causing many pundits to start doubting his credentials, but he eventually turn things around to show he is more than capable of playing at the highest level. Acting as a deep-lying playmaker, Xhaka impressed fans and pundits alike with his performances in Bundesliga and European competitions, and he even managed to score a couple of important goals in the process.
Despite his fragile age, the highly regarded footballer has been a key member of the Switzerland national team for quite some time now, scoring 6 goals in his first 40 caps to establish himself as a real leader of the Rossocrociati. The 2014 World Cup, where he scored one goal in four starts, should prove just the first of many major tournaments to come.
Highlighted Team (Nottingham Forest):
Nottingham Forest, the club that are often referred to as Forest, were formed in 1865. They have been playing their home games at the City Ground since 1898 and the capacity of the stadium is 30,445. Nottingham Forest are regarded as one of the greatest English clubs as they won the European Cup on two occasions. In 1979 Forest outplayed Malmo (1-0) at the Olympiastadion in Munich in the final of the elite competition, with the team beating Hamburg in 1980 in the title game at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu (1-0).
Nottingham Forest won the national championship in the 1977/1978 season, with the team finishing the campaign seven points clear of second-placed Liverpool. To make things even better for the fans, the City Ground outfit clinched the FA Cup trophies in 1898 and 1959. Derby County are regarded as Forest’s bitterest rivals and the two local rivals contest in the East Midlands derby. In their first ever meeting in the local derby Forest recorded a 3-2 win over Derby County.
