Our prediction for this Premier League match:
After spoiling Liverpool’s party at Anfield, Newcastle United will be looking to move one step closer towards securing the EPL survival when they take on Arsenal on Sunday. The Magpies showed character in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool, with the team scoring the equalizer late in the stoppage time, and, no doubt, they are high on spirits ahead of the visit of Arsenal. All Darlock, Hayden, Fraser, and Lascelles are sidelined with injuries, while Schar is a major doubt. Willock is ineligible to face his parent club.
The Gunners, on the other hand, head into the match following the Europa League encounter with Villarreal, meaning that tired legs could prove to be a big problem for Mikel Arteta’s troops. Arsenal have little to play for in the season finale, and given the importance of the match for the relegation strugglers, home win should be considered. Attacking duo Lacazette – Aubameyang is likely to miss the game through injury, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the Magpies.
Highlighted Player (Paul Dummet):
Paul Dummett is a product of Newcastle United’s youth school. His main position is left back, but he is capable of playing as a centre back as well. The defender was born on 26 September, 1991 and he played for the likes of Gateshead and St. Mirren on loan in the past.
Dummett returned to Newcastle United in 2013 and he featured in 18 games for the Magpies in the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign. On the last day of the season, he made a hard tackle on Liverpool attacker Luis Suarez and, in turn received death threats from Uruguay fans on Twitter. The Newcastle United defender scored one goal in 23 appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but he did not help the St. James’ Park outfit avoid relegation to the Championship.
Paul Dummett plays for Wales and he made his debut for the Dragons on June, 2014 against Netherlands. It has to be noted that Dummett won the Scottish League Cup with St. Mirren in the 2012/2013 season.
Highlighted Team (Arsenal):
Arsenal are regarded as one of the best English teams. The Gunners have won 12 FA Cup trophies, 13 league titles and two League Cups, but they have yet to lift the Champions League trophy. Arsene Wenger’s team were on the verge of beating Barcelona in the Champions League final back in 2006, but they eventually failed to win the prestigious title.
Arsenal used to play their homes at Highbury, but in 2006 they moved to the Emirates Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 60,260. The Gunners won their last Premier League trophy back in 2004, with the capital club going through the season without a single loss. The likes of Thierry Henry, Denis Bergkamp and Robert Pires were part of the team back then, but Arsenal have not won the league trophy ever since.
Arsenal was founded by Woolwich munitions workers as Dial Square back in 1886. It is well known that Tottenham Hotspur are Arsenal’s fiercest rivals and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals meet in the North London derby.
