Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Lazio play host to Cagliari at their Stadio Olimpico on day 4 of the new Serie A campaign. The Biancocelesti aim to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Milan, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at the Sardinians. Head coach Maurizio Sarri will watch the game from the stands as he was sent off in the Stadio San Siro showdown, but the good news for the hosts is that the experienced tactician has a full squad to choose from.
As always, Cagliari defenders should have Ciro Immobile at bay. The Rossoblu, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-2 loss to Genoa, and seeing that all Godin, Ceter, Rog, and Strootman are sidelined with injuries, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the capital club. Lazio are eyeing their seventh consecutive win over Cagliari in the Serie A.
Highlighted Player (Gonzalo Escalante):
Gonzalo Escalante is an Argentine footballer who plays for Eibar in Spanish La Liga. Escalante made his senior debut for Boca Juniors, coming as a substitute in a 6-1 loss to San Martin de San Juan. After playing 11 matches for the Argentine giants, he was sent on loan to Catania on 28 August, 2014 and he scored his first professional goal against Virtus Entella on 28 October.
On 29 January Escalante signed a permanent deal with the Sicilian outfit and he played 26 games for the club in the 2015/2016 campaign. At the end of the season he joined La Liga team Eibar on loan and he made his debut for los Armeros on 24 August against Granada. He managed to find his net on his debut and six months later he signed a permanent deal with the club.
His contract with Eibar expires on 30 June, 2020. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
