Our prediction for this Copa America match:
All eyes will be on Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, Bahia when Argentina and Colombia face each other in their Copa America opener. La Albiceleste proved their worth in a 5-1 win over Nicaragua in their last warm-up game, with Leo Messi scoring a brace. The Barcelona “magician” is likely to pose a big threat for Colombia defenders, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for Lionel Scaloni’s troops.
Los Cafeteros aim to build on back-to-back wins over Panama and Peru and they are definitely capable of grabbing something from the opening match of their Copa America campaign. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment and we predict that they are going to play out a draw at Arena Fonte Nova on Sunday. A man to watch in the away team will be Bayern Munchen ace James Rodriguez.
Highlighted Player (Sergio Aguero):
Sergio Aguero was born on 2 June, 1988 in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. Sergio’s nickname is Kun and he used to play for Independiente and Atletico Madrid in the past. The Manchester City attacker has won two Premier League trophies with the Etihad Stadium outfit (2011/2012, 2013/2014) and he played in the Champions League semi-final with the Citizens in the 2015/2016 season. However, Real Madrid proved to be a big catch for Kun Aguero and his teammates in the semis of the elite competition.
The Argentine forward won the Olympic Gold Medal with the national team in 2008, while lifting the FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy on two occasions (2005, 2007). Aguero scored 24 goals in the 2015-16 Premier League campaign, but that did not help Manuel Pellegrini’s troops win the national championship.
Kun was married to Diego Maradona’s daughter Gianinna, but the couple separated in 2012. Giannina gave birth to their son Benjamin in 2009.
Highlighted Team (Colombia):
Seleccion de futbol Colombia has stepped on to the international scene in 1938 with its competitive debut against Mexico. Colombia has in recent years become a national symbol of strength representing country’s efforts to fight the negative reputation.
Passionate about their football team, Colombians have formed a huge fan base which enjoyed in their team’s impressive run to the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals at the competition in which Real Madrid star James Rodriguez was awarded the Golden Boot for most goals and the Best Goal of the Tournament awards. Jose Pekerman’s team has also been named the Fair Play team at the same event.
The fans were pretty disappointed to see their team reach the quarter-final stage at the 2015 Copa America though as Colombia crashed out in disappointing fashion losing to Argentina after a penalty kick. Radamel Falcao remains the most prominent star of the current team despite his poor spells with Manchester United and Chelsea respectively. Monaco striker is also the team’s top scorer with 25 goals added to his name.
