Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
PSG will look to overtake Nice in top position in the standings when they welcome Montpellier to their Parc de Princes in the Ligue 1 round 11. Les Parisiens are eyeing their fifth consecutive win in all competitions and we are positive that they will adopt yet another attack-minded approach against La Paillade. As always, a man to watch in the home team will be France superstar Kylian Mbappe, who scored a brace in a 3-2 win over Brest, while teenage midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery should keep his place in the starting XI following yet another excellent display. All Marquinhos, Keylor Navas, Marco Asensio, Sergio Rico, and Nuno Mendes are out of contention with injuries.
Montpellier, on the other hand, defeated Toulouse 3-0 in their last league match, but given their seven-game losing run at Parc des Princes, we predict that the visitors are going to return home empty-handed from the trip to Paris. Both Becir Omeragic and Arnaud Nordin are sidelined with injuries, speaking of the away team.
Highlighted Player (Kylian Mbappé):
Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.
In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.
Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.
Highlighted Team (Montpellier):
Over the years Montpellier have established themselves as a mid-table side in French Ligue 1. Montpellier are considered one of the youngest clubs in France as they were founded in 1974, but it has to be noted that a number of high-profile footballers played for the club in the past. French football legend Laurent Blanc played for Montpellier from 1981-1993 and he scored 76 goals in 24 appearances in the league for the club. Eric Cantona, Roger Milla, Carlos Valderama and Olivier Giroud played in Montpellier’s colors as well, but Pascal Baills is the player with most appearances for the club (429).
La Paillade did remarkably well to win the Ligue 1 trophy in 2012 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Montpellier won Coupe de France on two occasions (1929, 1990), with the team beating FC Sete and FC Paris respectively in the title games. The team welcome their rivals at Stade de la Mosson and the capacity of the stadium is 32.900. In 1999 Montpellier won the UEFA Intertoto Cup.
