Sparta Rotterdam
De Oude Meerdijk will host Saturday’s football game between Emmen and Sparta Rotterdam, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2022/2023 season. Emmen desperately needed a win against Excelsior, and they managed to get one, with the team regaining much-needed confidence. A man to watch in the home team will be Ole ter Haar Romeny, who scored a brace at the weekend, while both Jeff Hardeveld and Maikel Kieftenbeld remain in the recovery room.
The Rotterdammers, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Excelsior (4-1) and Vitesse (3-1). Since the visitors will go for a win in Saturday’s encounter as well, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. To make things even worse for the away team, midfielder Adil Auassar misses out through suspension.
Highlighted Player (Anco Jansen):
Born in Zwolle, Netherlands on March 9, 1989, Anco Jansen is a pacey winger who started his senior career in his home-town club FC Zwolle. After scoring two goals in 40 league appearances for the club, he joined Groningen in 2008, but he did not see any game action with the Green and White Army in the Eredivisie.
Anco Jansen played for the likes of Cambuur, SC Veendam, De Graafschap, Roda JC, and Boluspor as well before joining FC Emmen in 2017. Anco Jansen made his Eredivisie debut with FC Emmen in a 2-1 win over ADO Den Haag on August 12, 2018, with the winger finding the net after 42 minutes.
His main position is left winger, but he is used as both centre-forward and attacking midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right. Anco Jansen has yet to earn a call-up with the Netherlands national football team.

Founded back on April 1, 1888, Sparta Rotterdam is considered one of the oldest clubs in the Netherlands. De Kasteelheren (the Castle Lords) welcome their opponents at Het Kasteel, and they have a great rivalry with Feyenoord. Yet another Rotterdam club Excelsior are considered Sparta’s fierce rivals as well.
Sparta Rotterdam wear white shirts with red strips when playing on home soil, while sky blue is the dominant colour of their away kit. De Kasteelheren have won six Eredivisie trophies. Sparta were the dominant force in the Dutch football in the 1910s, with the team winning their last league title in the 1958/59 season.
De Kasteelheren have won three Dutch Cup trophies as well (1957/58, 1961/62, 1965/66). In the 1985/86 season Sparta last participated in the UEFA Cup, with the team beating Hamburger SC in round 1, while suffering elimination to Borussia Monchengladbach in the second round. Sparta’s stadium Het Kasteel can hold up to 11,926 spectators.
