Atletico Madrid will look to build on a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo when they welcome Elche at their Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday evening. Los Rojiblancos started their title defence in great manner, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to give fans yet another reason for celebration. Uruguay international Luis Suarez, who came as a substitute in the season opener, is pushing for a start, while defender Mario Hermoso is banned for the match.
Joao Felix is out of contention through injury. Los Franjiverdes, on the other hand, head into the game following a goalless draw with Athletic Club. Elche, though, are not regarded as good travelers, and they are unlikely to spoil Atletico Madrid’s party at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. Luismi has been tested positive for coronavirus, while Jony Alamo remains in the recovery room.

Luis Suarez is a controversial footballer who plays for La Liga side Barcelona as a striker. The Uruguayan forward moved to Europe in 2006, signing a deal with Groningen. After scoring 10 goals in 27 league appearances for the club in the 2006/2007 Eredivisie campaign, he joined Ajax at the end of the season. The prolific striker scored no less than 81 goals in 110 appearances for Ajax and, as a result, Liverpool chiefs decided to sign him on 31 January 2011.
Suarez became the club’s most expensive signing and he was producing thrilling performances with the Anfield outfit between 2011 and 2014. Liverpool were on the verge of winning the 2013/2014 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and they eventually finished the season in second place in the standings.
In 2014 Suarez joined Barcelona and he was the top scorer in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. He won the 2013/2014 Premier League Golden Boot as well and in 2011 he clinched the Copa America trophy with Uruguay.

Established in 1923, Elche is a Spanish club that competes in La Liga. Los Franjiverdes welcome their rivals at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero, the stadium which can hold up to 33,732 spectators. The venue was opened on September 8, 1976.
Elche wear white shirts with green stripe and white shorts when playing at home, while black is the dominant colour of their away jersey. The club’s biggest success came in 1969 as Elche made it to the Copa del rey final. Los Franjiverdes faced Club Atletico de Bilbao in the Spanish Cup final, with the Basques winning the match by one goal to nil.
