Serie A Season Preview 2018/2019

Serie A Season Preview 2018/2019

Over the years Juventus have established themselves as the dominant force in the Serie A and they are on a quest to win their eighth consecutive trophy. Big-money signing Cristiano Ronaldo is eager to help the Bianconeri defend their title, but the likes of Inter, Napoli, Roma, Milan and Lazio are eager to put an end to Juve’s dominance in the Italian top flight.

Juventus have never been stronger. The club chiefs did well to keep hold of key players in the summer transfer window, with aforementioned superstar Cristiano Ronaldo joining the Italian champions for a fee of €112 million. To make things even better for the title holders, experienced defender Leonardo Bonucci returned to the club and it is no surprise Max Allegri’s troops are seen as hot favourites to win the 20182019 Serie A trophy.

Inter chiefs were very busy in the summer transfer window, with the likes of Radja Nainggolan, Lautaro Martinez, Sime Vrsaljko, Matteo Politano, Keita Balde, Kwadwo Asamoah and Stefan de Vrij joining the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit. The Nerazzurri are determined to win their first Serie A trophy since 2010. Mauro Icardi, who was scoring goals for fun last term, is still part of the team and, no doubt, Luciano Spalletti’s troops could play an important role in both Serie A and Champions League in the upcoming season.

Inter’s bitter local rivals Milan did well to sign Alen Halilovic, Pepe Reina, Ivan Strinic, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Fabio Borini and Mattia Caldara earlier this summer, but Argentine attacker Gonzalo Higuain is considered the team’s biggest signing. The Rossoneri, though, have slim chances of winning the domestic trophy and, no doubt, they would be more than happy with a top-four finish. Genaro Gattuso is still in charge of the team, but is likely to be under big pressure at the start of the season as both the club management and the fans have big ambitions for the 2018/2019 season.

Lazio owners managed to keep hold of key midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer transfer window, with Sevilla pacey winger Joaquin Correa, who impressed in the 2017/2018 season, joining the capital club. The Biancocelesti are likely to play an important role in the 2018/2019 Serie A campaign, the team’s main goal is to book their place in the Champions League as they failed to do so in the last season finale.

French midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who won the FIFA World Cup with les Tricolores earlier this summer, signed a €27 million worth deal with Roma, with the likes of Marcano, Mirante, Cristante, Coric, Olsen, Santon, Kluivert and Pastore joining the Giallorossi as well. The Romans are determined to go all the way in the Italian elite division in the season to come, but that is easier said than done.

Parma return to Serie A following a three-year absence, with Frosinone and Empoli securing promotion to the Italian top flight as well. Each of these teams will give 100% to secure the Serie A survival.

Seeing that the Serie A top-table teams have never been stronger, an exciting campaign is on cards, therefore, we strongly recommend you to follow the Italian elite division closely this time out.
