Our prediction for this Copa del Rey match:
A spot in the Spanish Cup last 16 will be at stake when Eldense and Athletic Club face each other at Estadio Nuevo Pepico Amat on Thursday evening. Eldense rolled over Calahorra 4-0 in their last league match, with the team shocking Burgos in the previous Copa del Rey round. The hosts are likely to adopt a defence-minded approach against Athletic, but preventing the Lions attackers from finding the net is easier said than done.
There are no fresh injury worries in the home team. The Basques, on the other hand, are eyeing their 24th Copa del Rey title. Athletic Club want to go all the way in their favourites competition, and seeing that Ernesto Valverde can count on key players for the midweek match, anything but a routine away win would be a major surprise. Centre-back Inigo Martinez should miss out with injury.
Highlighted Player (Dani Garcia):
After spending his youth career at Real Sociedad, Dani Garcia made his senior debut for Alicante B. He made 29 appearances for the first team as well and in 2011 the Spanish midfielder joined Getafe B. Despite being a Real Sociedad player between 2012 and 2014 he spent two years at Eibar on loan, scoring one goal in 79 appearances for the club.
Dani Garcia made his debut in La Liga on 24 August, 2014 in a 1-0 win over his boyhood club Real Sociedad. On 26 June, 2014 he signed a permanent deal with Eibar, which expires in June, 2018. The Eibar footballer plays as a central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well. Dani Garcia was born in Zumarraga, Spain on 24 May, 1990.
Highlighted Team (Athletic Bilbao):
Athletic Club (mostly known as Athletic de Bilbao) is a Spanish football club from the Bask region which is playing currently in the Primera Division. Athletic de Bilbao used to play until 2012 in the San Mames stadium (also known as La Catedral).
Since 2013 the club is playing in anew stadium. Athletic Bilbao is known for its rivalry with Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid was founded by Bask students in Madrid. The old relationship between both teams is visible in the red blue jerseys of both teams.
The second team Athletic de Bilbao is playing in the Segunda Division B in Spain. Athletic Bilbao won the Primera Division 8 times, the Copa del Rey 24 times, the Spanish super cup 2 times. Athletic de Bilbao didn’t won any prizes in Europe yet but managed to be the runner up in 1977 and 2012 in the UEFA cup.
