The games end in the following results:

Villarreal 3 – 1 Real Betis
Following back-to-back losses to the likes of Levante and Real Sociedad, Villarreal were desperate to grab something from Sunday’s match against Real Betis. However, los Beticos broke the deadlock after 11 minutes, with Sergio Leon scoring a close-range header for the visitors. The Yellow Submarine then went all guns blazing at Real Betis and they managed to turn their dominance into goal after 32 minutes. Summer signing Carlos Bacca took advantage of Antonio Adan’s huge mistake and put the ball into the back of the net. Villarreal could have taken the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Rodrigo Hernandez missed a clear-cut opportunity to score for the hosts. 16 minutes into the second half, though, Samu Castillejo found the net for the Yellows as he produced a fine striker into the left corner and 16 minutes later (77’) Enes Unal put the game to bed.

11′ Sergio Leon 0 – 1
32′ Carlos Bacca 1 – 1
61′ Sanuel Castillejo 2 – 1
77′ Enes Unal 3 – 1

Inter Milan 2 – 0 SPAL
Inter have been impressive at the start of the season under new coach Luciano Spalletti. Following back-to-back wins over the likes of Fiorentina and Roma, the Nerazzurri faced SPAL at their Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Matchday 3. Inter adopted an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s clash and they scored the opener from the penalty spot after 27 minutes. The last season’s top scorer Mauro Icardi won the battle of wills and helped the hosts take the lead. The Nerazzurri continued to dominate the game and in the 74th minute Milan Skriniar missed a clear-cut chance to double Inter’s lead. However, eight minutes before the final whistle Croatia international Ivan Perisic scored the second goal for the hosts, setting up the final score of the match. Luciano Spalletti’s men totally deserved to pick up all three points from the match and it has to be noted that they had 19 goal attempts in the 2-0 win over the newcomers.

27′ Mauro Icardi 1 – 0
87′ Ivan Perisic 2 – 0

Olympique Lyon 2 – 1 Guingamp
Olympique Lyon are a team with two faces. Les Gones are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but they often struggle on the travels. Bruno Genesio’s troops welcomed Guingamp at their Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday afternoon and a lively contest was on the cards. Former Real Madrid attacker Marino Diaz opened the scoring for the hosts after 19 minutes, with the summer signing netting his fourth goal of the season. However, in the 71st minute of the match the visitors scored the equalizing goal with Marcus Thuram scoring a close-range header to level the score. Guingamp’s celebration did not last long as Nabil Fekir scored the second for Lyon one minute later. The left-footed attacker set up the final score of the match (2-1), but it has to be noted that fans saw a close encounter at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

19′ Mariano Diaz 1 – 0
71′ Marcus Thuram 1 – 1
72′ Nabil Fekir 2 – 1
